It’s true. 4, 676 miles were driven during the month of October. Why? One reason: Asia needs more laborers for Christ. Melody, Jon, Jacob, Kim and I packed up and left for an epic road trip last month. We started things out at Central Michigan University and went
back east to drive down the coast stopping along the way to speak at Georgetown University (where I got booed upon exiting the car…I might have been wearing my Duke sweatpants). We headed farther south and spoke at a church in
Lynchburg, VA where we were totally blessed by our brothers and sisters.
My excitement grew more and more as we headed farther south and drove through the
Blue Ridge Mountains. It was so hard for me to even look at the road; God’s beauty takes my breath away. Can you believe the God who created the
Blue Ridge Mountains speaks to us and longs for intimacy with us? It blows my mind.
We stopped in
Durham,
NC and I got to meet with the leader from the InterVarsity group from
Duke University. It was an awesome connection. I also got to meet with the leader from Campus Harvest and he was able to hook us up with some more people who have Asia on their heart.
We arrived in one of my most favorite states (
South Carolina!) and got to speak at
Furman University. There were a few students who are interested in joining us in
Asia. Praise God! We got to take a couple of days to rest at my mom’s house and have some much needed meetings for strategy. It was a really chill time and I got to spend some much needed time with my mom.
Next we headed to good ‘ole
Texas…we drove through the night. Can I just say that God is so faithful. Every time we got in the car I would pray that He would bind the animals to the side of the roads and not once did we ever hit an animal! So thankful!
Texas was really amazing. We were able to participate in the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor’s Mission Emphasis Week. We were totally blessed by the amounts of students who have dedicated their lives to missions and are just asking God where He wants them to serve. Of course we were saying, “
Asia!” I love how God is calling our generation to just GO!
We drove back to
Rochester, NY in a quick hurry to make it back for the BASIC conference. We had a lot of college students from that venue super interested in coming with us to
Asia as well!!
Keep praying for more and more laborers. We are asking God for 50 more to join us for the 2011-2012 year. We are traveling through the state of
New York talking with students this month.
Grace and Peace,
holli cherie

Mel, me, Kim and Jacob!
